About two weeks ago I was finally relieved that everything was in order for this styled shoot I was putting together. I had models, a cake, a florist, decorations, a venue, hair, makeup, a dress, and everything in between. I’ve never organized one of these before, and I seriously thought it would be a piece of cake because everyone else was doing one. Yeah, right! You guys, these are stressful. No, seriously. It’s like throwing a wedding for yourself in less than two months. I didn’t realize I’d have to plan E V E R Y T H I N G. But, it was all done and everything was finally coming together.
However, Wednesday of last week put a huge damper on my whole “relieved” feeling. I checked the forecast thinking “it hasn’t rained in over two weeks, but I’ll just check to be sure”. Well, guess what? 100% chance of rain for Sunday (the day of the shoot). Not 80% or 90%, but 100%!! I planned for everything to be outdoors so I was stressing. I also don’t have any more available weekends until January so I freaked a little (or a lot)! I kept reminding myself that it was only Wednesday and there was plenty of time for the forecast to change.
Well, I checked that thing like twice a day and it bounced between 90% and 100% chance of rain. I decided I was going to just plan for it to all be indoors, and although it may not be as pretty, it was better than nothing! However, I was still hoping and praying these forecasters were off. The morning of the shoot there were tornado winds outside. The sky was black and the rain fell from the sky like bullets, but by the time it was ready to leave there was sunshine (yesss)! We arrived at the White Magnolia in Kentwood, LA, and there wasn’t a single raindrop from start to finish.
There were 9 other photographers (yes, 9) who came from all across Louisiana and Mississippi. It was so awesome to meet these wonderful photographers, and even gain a few friendships along the way! The models were gorgeous, the venue was (as always) breathtaking, and the services that these vendors provided are beyond appreciated.
Thanks again to everyone for coming and for the vendors for exceeding my expectations!
